Service and panel upgrades

If breakers trip when the dryer and the microwave run together, or you're adding an EV charger, a hot tub or a basement suite, the panel or the service may need to grow with the house. We start with a load calculation, so an upgrade is only recommended when it is actually needed.

Service work has to be done by a licensed contractor. In Winnipeg, homeowners cannot take out a permit for an electrical service. We handle the permit and coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with Manitoba Hydro.

  • 100 A to 200 A service upgrades
  • Panel replacements
  • Fuse panel replacement
  • Sub-panels for garages and additions

Renovations

Kitchens, bathrooms and basement developments almost always mean new circuits, more receptacles and new lighting. We work with you or your contractor so the rough-in is done and inspected before the drywall goes up.

  • Kitchen circuits
  • Basement developments
  • Bathroom fans and heated floors
  • Moving or adding receptacles

New home wiring

New builds and additions, from the panel and rough-in through the final inspection. Clean, labelled work that the next electrician will be able to follow.

Rewiring

Older homes can still have original wiring, ungrounded circuits or not enough of them. We rewire in stages or all at once, and leave you with a system you can rely on.

  • Older and original wiring
  • Adding grounded circuits
  • Partial or whole-home rewires

Lighting

Pot lights, fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, feature pieces over the stairs and exterior lighting. Lighting is where a renovation shows, so it pays to plan it properly.

Garages and outdoor power

Power to a detached garage or shop, outdoor receptacles, exterior lights and backyard feeds. Underground runs are planned around what is already in the yard.

EV chargers

Level 2 home charging installed on its own circuit, with a load calculation first so you know whether your service can handle it. In Winnipeg, homeowners cannot take out the permit for an EV charger, so a licensed contractor has to. Outside Winnipeg, Manitoba Hydro requires a load calculation from a licensed electrician with the permit application.

Manitoba Hydro's Home Energy Efficiency Loan lists Level 2 home chargers installed by a licensed electrician under permit among eligible items. Check Manitoba Hydro for current terms.

Hot tubs, pools and spas

Circuits, disconnects, bonding, trenching, permits and inspections for hot tubs and pool equipment, plus backyard power and lighting.

Troubleshooting and repairs

Dead circuits, breakers that keep tripping, flickering lights, warm receptacles or a burning smell. Some of these are minor and some are not, so have them looked at.

Good to know

Permits for home electrical work.

In Winnipeg, most new, altered or extended electrical work needs an electrical permit from the City. Outside the city, Manitoba Hydro issues permits and inspects the work. In Winnipeg, a few like-for-like replacements in an owner-occupied house, such as swapping a light fixture or receptacle in the same spot, don't need one.

When you hire 365 Electric, we take out the permit and arrange the inspections. Homeowner permits exist for some work, with conditions, but they don't cover electrical services or EV chargers in Winnipeg, and outside Winnipeg they don't cover hot tubs, pools or service work.
